aWARD Winning Night

YAY!We won 2nd place for Kate's Kickin Chicken Chili at our Wards Trunk or Treat Party, out of over 20 crockpots full of chili.I know can you believe it? Me - I never win anything let alone a cooking contest. What a joke.
Everyone I've shared this recipe with, has tweaked it to their liking. You just can't go wrong.
I even tweaked the name from the original "White Chicken Chili" to Kate's Kickin Chicken Chili. (Thanks Kate)
We also cooked this in the Dutch oven when we went camping last month.
hmmmmm delishiOHses (sound it out, I just made up that word and I'm sticking with it)

1 lb chicken cooked in
1 Tbsp oil

3 cans Northern Beans
1 can chicken broth (I used 2 chicken boullion cubes and 2 cups hot water)
1 med. Chopped onion or 2 Tbsp minced onion

2 cans chopped mild green chiles (smallest cans)
1 cup sour cream
½ cup heavy whipping cream

1 tsp salt
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp oregano
½ tsp pepper
¼ tsp cayenne pepper

Cook in crock pot on high for 2.5 hours.

Speaking of award winning - We also won first place for our decorated trunk. - All David's idea. He's quite the creative one. He had to time to conjur up this one since we spent 4 hours in the car dealership waiting to buy a car - more on that later.
Notice the boat with the leg hanging out. He stuffed my old nylons with newspaper and now has a new appreciation for our suffering. He spent hours on that part.

Here we are with JAWS - Thanks to my Gold Canyon packing styrofoam, we were able to make the teeth.

Our aWARD winning prize for Jaws the scary car. Kitty Litter Cupcakes. They were also delishiOHses, just disgusting looking. Perfect for Halloween. Who would have thought that chocolate covered Cheetos would be tasty? Thanks Sharon T.

My pirate girl

Russell and Mr. Frederickson. I think they had more fun spending the entire day coming up with this outfit than they ever have. It's their tradition to dress up together. Another 2nd place prize winning outfit. First Place in my book!

UP

It was just an aWARD winning night for the Allred's

  1. You guys are darling! Joy just shines from your faces. And that chili recipe sounds decadent--sour cream and heavy cream? Oh, my.

  2. Now that's an award-winning trunk, for sure! (LOVE Molly's costume, too. Where'd she ever come up with the supplies for that?)
