The Help

I loved, loved, loved this book. It's not very often that I find a book that makes me laugh out loud not once or twice but several times.

The three main characters were so endearing to me, I didn't want the book to end.
The relationships that all three have not only with each other but in their personal lives as well, was just sweet and true to life for me.

The story takes place during my lifetime, well my early lifetime, but none the less. I honestly had no idea about the Southern lifestyle and "The Help" from the black community. I loved how she wove pieces of history in her story, just made me feel like I was sitting right there at the kitchen table listening to the happenings of the day.

Impressed with Ms. Stockett being that this is her first novel. How does that happen?

  4. A very intriguing story, good and original. I usually don't enjoy reading passages in dialect but the writer did such a great job that I think it added to the overall feel of the book rather well.

  5. It's so weird that when you hear about a book once, all the sudden you are hearing about it all the time. Tammy Wold said she loved this book and since then I have heard this at least 3 other times. I will have to read it.
